7 Easy Faux Painting Techniques

Author: Julie Lohmeier

Source: articlecity.com

In the last 10 years, faux painting techniques have gone from obscure to popular, from the realm of professionals to do-it-yourself projects. These techniques are not difficult although they can be time consuming (what decorating or remodeling project isn't though) and require quick hands.

Called "faux" painting because these techniques mimic or create a false look of stone, texture, leather, and more, you will find that the styles fall into one of two types: additive or subtractive. Additive (also called positive) techniques simply mean that you add color onto the wall. Sponging is the most common of this type. Conversely, subtractive, carhartt coats, (also referred to as negative) techniques, carhartt coats, means you take paint off after it has been applied. Ragging is a common subtractive technique. Most negative techniques use glazes and require that you move quickly before the glaze dries.

When it comes to glazes, there are two types: latex (water based) or oil based. Latex is by far easier since it cleans up with soap and water, but oil based glazes provide longer working times and generally provide a harder, more durable finish. However, for do-it-yourselfers, I recommend latex, carhartt coats, glazes and working, carhartt coats, in, carhartt coats, small areas at a time. I have also seen solutions that you can add to the glaze to lengthen the working time. For your first glazing job, you may well want to consider using this additive available at finer paint supply stores.

Here are the various type of faux painting techniques:

Sponging: Probably the easiest method, you apply paint to a wall with a natural sea sponge. It provides a richly textured look. In addition to good looks, it's a simple way to camouflage an uneven or repaired crack wall. Use a couple of colors, carhartt coats, over the base paint to add greater depth. Be bold or subtle; it's up to you. You can use glaze or paint just as easily with this technique. I've seen this done in a negative manner, but it is most commonly performed as a positive method.

Ragging/Rag rolling: Typically a negative technique, you paint a tinted glaze over the base painted walls. The glaze should be tinted darker than the base coat, keeping in the same color family as the glaze allows some color, carhartt coats, through it as well. Either use a wadded up dry rag or twist a rag into a cylinder. Then dab or roll the rags to remove the glaze. You can use one or two colors over the base coat. You may also do this in a positive method like sponging for a softer look and texture.

Color Washing: In this additive technique, you apply the tinted glaze mixture over the base coat using a circular motion as if you were washing the wall. Use rags for a very soft look or a natural sea sponge for a more textured appearance.

Strie: Create a historical and aged texture to the wall, with this negative method. Roll tinted glaze over the base coat, then use a wall paper brush to make fine lines from top to bottom. The glaze should be darker than the base coat to allow the lighter base to show through the fine lines.

Striping: The only difficult part of this positive technique is getting your stripes straight. Be sure, carhartt coats, to use a level or drop a plumb line. Tape off your stripes, then paint every other one with glaze. If you use a bold color, you do not need to tint the glaze to get a delightful two-tone effect. For softer colors, you may wish to slightly, carhartt coats, darken the glaze although it is not necessary. This technique may also be combined with color washing as you color wash the stripes for more interest and texture. Of course, for a more dramatic look, you can use paint in complementary or various colors.

Dry Brushing: This is a positive method in which you use a small amount of paint on a brush in herringbone patterns to create the texture. You will need tow or three colors to achieve the best results.

Frottage: Using plastic sheets for this negative method, tinted glaze is applied over the base coat and then plastic sheets are applied and smoothed over the glaze. Once the wall is done, the plastic sheets are removed for a marbling effect.

Faux finishes, carhartt coats, can provide, carhartt coats, interest and texture to your rooms - and less, carhartt coats, expensively than wall paper. While you may need to block out a full day to do the work, by the end of the day, you can sit back and admire the rich, luxurious look of your new room.

The Otterhound: a Playful Giant

Author: Michael Russell

Source: articleage.com

The Otterhound is a breed of substantial size and great amiability. It is somewhat of a clown and enjoy rough and tumble play with other dogs. Otterhounds were originally bred as a pack hound, (to run with a pack) they generally get, carhartt coats, along well with other dogs. As the name implies, they were developed to give chase to the otter and so they do have swimming instincts. Otters at one time were so plentiful in the British Isles that they endangered the fishing industry and the hounds would be set upon the otters to keep this from becoming so great a problem. However, the Otter is now on the endangered species list and of course their hunting is banned. The dog still remains popular as a pet and a Show dog, carhartt coats, and makes a gentle but protective guardian as well. They are not really a guarding breed but their voice alone is enough to sound quite an alarm not to mention their large size. Their bay is actually a delight to hear, being, carhartt coats, melodious and deep and the bark is gruff but soft.
The Otterhound looks rather rough in a natural state, the coat is shaggy and wiry or coarse. Historically, he has both Terrier and Hound in his genetic makeup and the coat reflects the characteristics of the Terrier type of coat. Colors are mostly tans and, carhartt coats, salt and pepper. The outer hairs are water resistant with a dense protective undercoat. He is a large breed standing 24 to 26 inches at the withers, with a large head and pendulous ears. His coat is, carhartt coats, easy to maintain as being of terrier type it easily sheds dirt and brambles, carhartt coats, and bits of leaves, etc. This is not a dog that is for a neat housekeeper since he is continually bringing in such items on his coat and dripping them off onto the floor. Although he usually doesn't slobber he has a large mouth that can produce a lot of saliva when the smell food is in the air, carhartt coats, . Furthermore his hairy face will collect the water as he drinks and if his face is not wiped immediately it drips off of his hairs as he makes his way across a room. Many owners will keep a towel handy near the water dish or will allow access to water only when he is outside.
The Otterhound is in the same predicament as many of the large breeds when it comes to hip dysplasia. It continues to be a problem in the breed and care must be taken to x-ray this dog before breeding. Also the possibility of bloat or gastric torsion can be a problem. There is no way of knowing is this condition is genetic in nature though it is suspected that it is "familial".
After the Otterhound, carhartt coats, outgrows his puppyhood (which will last at least until the age of two) he usually settles down somewhat and at least is not so awkward . He retains a bit of stubbornness in his personality, after all, he is a pack dog and has a tendency to tend to his own desires rather than those of his master. He is also a playful and boisterous breed, quite active and energetic. However he is intelligent and will respond, carhartt coats, to training. He needs plenty of exercise and of course needs a fenced in enclosure. He enjoys, carhartt coats, nothing more than being with his family on a regular basis but is not unhappy if in the yard and is not demanding of constant attention, especially if he has another dog to keep him company.

Plastering: Smooth it Out

Author: Jo Harris

Source: articlesbase.com

Plastering is an integral part of construction works. Plastering is the covering of the raw and rough surface with plastering material. Newly constructed surfaces like walls or floors get finishing touches by applying this technique. After plastering, surface gets smooth and neat look. Besides adding ornamental value, plastering is important for other reasons as well. It protects the surface and hence the structure from any environmental conditions, like sunlight, dampness and variation in temperatures. Surface is protected then from the attacks of the chemicals like chlorides and sulphates. Plastering is done with two kinds of plasters, namely, Gypsum Based, carhartt coats, and Cement Based. Exteriors walls need stronger and tougher plaster work. Cement is more resistant to dampness and water, so cement plaster is used for exterior walls and the interior walls where there is a risk of dampness. Gypsum based plastering is done on the interior walls. On the areas where walls tend to be damp most of times like in kitchen and bathroom, gypsum, carhartt coats, based plaster will crumble down. A thick layer of plaster is, carhartt coats, needed on damp surfaces. For carrying out a perfect plastering work, you need to have perfect plastering, carhartt, carhartt coats, coats, tools. Some of the important tools required for plastering job are hawk, plasterer trowels, buckets, straight edge and plumb level, string line, trimming knife, steel floats, claw hammer and splash brush. For doing good plastering job, you need to keep the tools clean, especially bucket and plasterers float. Besides right kind of tools, the plastering material should be mixed in perfect manner. A mixer drill is used to mix large quantities while smaller amount of the plaster can be, carhartt coats, mixed with a piece of wood. Plaster is hold with the help of a hawk and float is used to transfer the plaster to the wall. Usually, plaster is applied in two coats - backing coat and the final coat. Bonding or the browning plaster is used in the first coat which is the backing coat. Plasterboard is a good alternative to backing plaster coat. It is easy to apply. Even a novice can do it. After applying the backing plaster, apply the second and the final coat. While mixing the plastering material, use only cold water. Never add water to plaster. Always add plastering material to the water to save it from getting lumpy. Plaster sets very quickly, so mix small quantities at a time. Plaster should be applied when it is still creamy and soft. You can apply base coat in two layers, carhartt coats, to achieve the right kind of thickness. Application of the final coat is called skimming and it requires fineness. Apply final coat when the base coat is set but still damp.

Useful Beauty Tips

Author: Efrat Vagner

Source: ezinearticles.com

The first step for good eye makeup is having a good base. Applying cream concealer using a concealer brush on eye lids and under the eyes followed by applying foundation where needed only. Use a tapping motion with your finger to blend foundation and concealer. If there are no skin blemishes there may be no need for foundation.

When applying powder to area around the eyes, for reducing shine and setting the concealer, use a sponge and not a powder puff. A sponge will allow you a finer application and not allow powder to set in wrinkle lines (which creates a "plastic" artificial look). This is especially true for mature skin.

For keeping your brows looking natural and not "done" try using brow powder to fill in softly areas that are a little scant. If there is no need just give your brows a brush and let them be.

For defining the ideal eye brow shape for you follow your natural arch, the brow should start at the base of the nose and end at the very corner of the eye lid.

A good way to help visualize ideal brow shape in to use a pencil placing it against the nose pointing straight up and across the inner side of your eye, carhartt coats, . The tip of the pencil, carhartt coats, at bottom height of brow is the correct starting point for the perfect brow. Moving only the tip of the pencil around the eye will show the perfect arc and reaching, carhartt coats, the outer corner of the eye is where brow should end.

To avoid dry nails be ware of using hardeners and varnishes which contain formaldehyde (it has a drying effect). Using a waterproof coating will seal in moisture and help repel dirt and water. Another tip is using oily lip balm on your nails as a moisturizer.

White spots on your nails may have been caused by application of excess force during a manicure or other daily activity. These spots will grow along with the nail until reaching the tip and being trimmed off. Another cause for them may be pressure beneath cuticles which directly affects new growth.

Make sure your white nail tip has grown at least 0.25" from pink base, carhartt coats, of nail before filing. Filing shorter nails, carhartt coats, will weaken them. Filing nails that have grown too long will cause them to break easily.

It is highly advisable to apply a base coat of clear polish before applying the colored, carhartt coats, one. The base coat keeps polish from cracking and chipping longer. It is very important to let, carhartt coats, coats dry properly before applying the next, this is the only way to be sure the top coat will adhere well enough to the one underneath (note that darker shades take longer to dry).

Applying a new, carhartt coats, top coat daily will help keep the freshly done nails for much longer. When you decide to redo remove old layers with a nail polish remover that contains oils for hydrating nails and avoid dry brittle nails.

Lab coats come in a variety of styles and lengths. Laboratory staff generally wear the longer, knee length lab coats that have long sleeves to protect the arms.

Some lab coats have elastic at the sleeve ends to help prevent the sleeve from being caught, carhartt coats, on equipment while you are working. Lab coats usually button or snap closed. Shorter lab coats may have zippers. Lab coats are designed to be rapidly removed, carhartt coats, in case of a spill.

Lab coat styles vary when it comes to pockets although most versions have two large patch pockets and a small breast pocket. The pockets may be designed to hold pens upright so they can be easily accessed.

Although uniform scrubs come in a variety of colors and prints today, lab coats have traditionally been white and most of them, carhartt coats, still are,, carhartt coats, although they can sometimes be seen in other colors like blue and green.

The lab coats that laboratory staff wear are normally made from cotton and polyester so they are comfortable and lightweight. They can be treated to be flame and chemical resistant.

Although there are various types of lab coats for laboratory staff to wear today, they all have the same purpose and that is to protect you. A lab coat should always, carhartt coats, be worn when working with hazardous materials like biological samples or chemical solutions. The sleeves should be rolled down and when gloves are worn, the lab coat sleeves should be tucked into the tops of the gloves.

While lab coats protect you from contamination, they are considered to be contaminated themselves and should not be worn out of the lab. For example, when leaving the lab for lunch or to go home for the day, your lab coat should remain inside the lab. Your facility may provide your lab coats and launder them as well. You may have to buy your, carhartt coats, own and launder it at home, if you do, wash it separately from your regular laundry.

If your lab requires that you buy your own lab coat, you will find they are, carhartt coats, very affordable. You can buy a basic unisex lab coat for under $20. Fashionable lab coats and coats specially treated to repeal chemicals may cost more.

The employer may dictate the exact type of lab coat worn by laboratory staff. There are a few basic types like long or knee length, short or hip length, jacket style, gowns like surgical gowns, one size fits all, and fitted lab coats.

There are also various types, carhartt coats, of lab coats according to material used to make them. Polyester makes the lab coat resistant to liquid spills; cotton makes them cool and comfortable. If you work in a biohazard lab, you may wear a disposable lab coat that is made from polypropylene. Some lab coats have carbon fibers added which increases their ability to repel fluids. Chemical resistant lab coats are, carhartt coats, made from cotton twill and treated with ammonia or made from fire retardant material like Nomex from DuPont.

The type of lab coat you choose will depend on the type of lab you work in. You need a higher level of protection if you work with infectious materials or dangerous chemicals.

Life event - graduation, winning a particular contest
Humorous - funny episodes in life, the person's quirks

Begin by choosing a background shape for the Coat of Arms. A shield shape is traditional; however choose a shape that matches the person it is for. You could have a heart shaped one for a young girl or for someone who is getting married.

Then select the items that will be included in the Coat of Arms. This could be very simple -, carhartt coats, for example a couple of crossed tennis racquets - or fairly elaborate depending on your theme.

The final size of the Coat of Arms will restrict the number of items you can include. A smaller 'letterhead' size Coat of Arms may only have one or two things, but one painted onto a canvas could include a lot more items and extra detail.

If you're only using one item it would probably be placed centrally. For two items you could place them side by side or one to the top and the other to the bottom. When a Coat of Arms has four items they are often placed in the four quadrants which have been sectioned off with lines.

Clip art is a handy way to select the different things to include in your Coat of Arms. Copy and Paste a range of suitable items onto one page and then make your final selection from these.

When you are making a Coat of Arms for a particular person you can include the things that they like to do. My husband is a teacher,, carhartt coats, he likes golf, fishing and does a lot of DIY, carhartt coats, . A traditional Coat of Arms for him could be a shield shape divided into four quadrants. The sections could have:

* A mortar board
* Golf clubs
* Fisherman
* A cross shape made from a hammer and screwdriver

For a smaller, less formal one I could use a golf ball shape background with a diagonal cross made of a fishing rod and a golf club. There could also be a motto like "Life's too short to work!" or something similar.

A good theme for a funny Coat of Arms would be to choose things that represent silly episodes in, carhartt coats, their life. You can really get creative with your items!

To make up your Coat of Arms draw in the background shape, carhartt coats, and place your items, carhartt coats, for a pleasing result. You could add a motto at the bottom as well. Using computer fonts for this will ensure that the lettering, and the spacing between the letters, is perfect.

If you have done this in a computer program you could print it out., carhartt coats, Remember that most computer inks will fade over time if left in the sunlight.

Alternatively you, carhartt coats, could trace and paint the Coat of Arms onto a canvas panel. For a larger one you can print out sections of the Coat of Arms onto several pages of computer paper and join them together, carhartt coats, . Trace this onto a canvas panel or stretched canvas and paint it - I like to use acrylic, carhartt coats, paints because they are water based and quick and easy to use.

A large Coat of Arms on a stretched canvas is an impressive gift.

If you have made a family Coat of Arms you could add it to your letterhead, or print it onto the front of cards for your own personalized stationery.

This is a great project that you will enjoy doing, carhartt coats, either by yourself or with others. Be sure to give it a try.

Types of Hangers That Can Make Space

Author: Charlie Hafter

Source: ezinearticles.com

Sometimes you are really not motivated to redo the whole closet. If you do not have much time or money to put into a closet remodel, consider utilizing today's top-of-the-line hangers to help you create space where you have not had it before.

It used to be that there were only coat hangers, wire hangers, or pants hangers. Now there are all different types, each that can help fulfill a specific need. When combined, you closet can look so roomy that you would not have believed it if you had not seen it with your own eyes.

If you love the tiny amount of space that wire hangers, carhartt coats, take up, but hate how they bend, snag and get tangled together, then you might like, carhartt coats, the new metal hangers. These are very strong and have no sharp or, carhartt coats, pointed ends to snag and ruin your clothes. They are so sturdy that they do not tangle easily or overlap on the bar. You can get chrome or brushed nickel finish to give your closet a sleek look. But, using metal hangers alone will not create a lot of space in your closet.

Stay slim and create space with the slimline hanger. These hangers have a velvet finish that keeps clothes from slipping off. They are almost as thin as metal hangers, but they have taller sides and bottoms for hanging shirts and pants. They are curved, carhartt coats, just right at the shoulder so they do not cause dress blouses, jackets or coats to get misshapen in the closet.

Now, here is how you really make space with a slimline hanger. Get the cascading hooks that, carhartt coats, coordinate with the hangers. These allow you to waterfall shirts, skirts, pants, carhartt coats, and jackets, placing one hanger on the cascading hook of the other. You can put shirts and skirts that go together on the same hanger. This can create up to fifty percent more space in your closet.

Another way to create space is to take out all coats, jackets, blazers and suits. Hang them in the spare bedroom or on a hanging bar out of sight somewhere. Make sure that you keep them accessible, but these items are seldom used every day. Getting them out of your everyday closet can help you to make room. Hang coats and suits on cedar hangers so that they do not have moth problems, mildew or smell from being stored too long.

Once you have stocked your closet with the type of hanger that you like, invest in the different styles, too. Skirt hangers, shirt hangers,, carhartt coats, pants hangers and dress hangers can all help keep what needs to be hung on the hanger.

O Great One in White Coat! Restore My Worn-Out Mouth!

Author: J. S. Ronette

Source: articleage.com

Once upon a time, living with wear-and-tear from age and neglect was an unavoidable reality in the mouths of maturing adults.
Reversing what nature had wrought was an indulgence. Only the rich, the famous, the vain eccentric were exempt. And so older folks accepted the slow degeneration—yellow, worn-down nubs and dark gaps from teeth ravaged by disease and decay. Even function suffered. Biting an apple, articulate speech were other possible problems.
Enter the restorative power of modern dentistry!
"Now the dental arsenal easily vanquishes the common enemies of oral health," says Dr. Sherman H. Telis, of the Washington Center for Dentistry in Washington, DC. "The marvels of gum therapy, crowns, bridges, veneers and implants have the power to restore what used to be an accepted part of aging of the mouth."
Restorative dentistry—often coupled with cosmetic dentistry—is now the province of the average dental consumer. Patients are seeking treatment for rehabbing swollen gums, rejuvenating unsightly, carhartt coats, broken teeth and filling gaps with "new" teeth that get "implanted" into the bone and function and look like natural teeth.
And patients know a lot about treatments from the Internet and the media. "It's astonishing how much information, carhartt coats, there is out there for patients," Dr. Telis says.
Here's a rundown of restorative options:
ท Crowns - A new generation of fine-grade porcelain gives crowns an astonishing look of, carhartt coats, real teeth. Mimicking nature's pearlescent glow and translucency, these crowns are indistinguishable from their natural-born neighbors. And these newer, stronger materials eliminate the need for metal under layers that cast an unsightly dark shadow under the gums. The newer techniques in fashioning crowns also make it possible to fit them more seamlessly into the bite.

ท Bridges - Today's strong, beautiful porcelains also make it possible to span the area of a missing tooth—with no shiny metal clasps or other tell-tale signs of prosthetic dental treatment.

ท Implants - This ever-improving advance, carhartt coats, in modern dentistry is responsible for preserving normal dentition without needing to resort to a partial or full denture that needs to be removed from the mouth at night. Once an iffy choice, now the implant touts a 97 percent success rate and is increasingly the treatment of choice for replacing missing teeth. And often the result is stronger and more durable than natural teeth. The process is getting, carhartt coats, more streamlined, as some implants,, carhartt coats, carhartt coats, get placed into the gum and bone the same day, along with a temporary crown. Patients have little, carhartt coats, inconvenience in their appearance as the process goes forward.

ท Porcelain "fillings"—Also known as composites and inlays or onlays, these restorations are another way to rejuvenate teeth via the wonders of porcelain. The healthy, whiter look makes teeth look young and bright.

ท Veneers - Few treatments surpass these thin, sculpted shells of porcelain when transforming unattractive, old teeth into a beautiful, natural, younger looking smile. Again, the high-grade porcelains create a lovely, glowing smile that looks absolutely natural.

The Old English Sheepdog: The "Bobtail"

Author: Michael Russell

Source: articleage.com

The sight of the Old English Sheepdog actually driving a flock of sheep or cattle is, carhartt coats, not unusual in Great Britain but is not often seen in the United States, where he has become more popular as a show dog and a family pet. In Great Britain, the dogs used commonly as drovers dogs, draft dogs and shepherds in years past were considered "working dogs" . Because of the tax which was levied on dogs who performed no "work" , the custom of bobbing the tail, carhartt coats, was begun to distinguish the dogs who "worked" from dogs who were used only for companionship. Dogs with the docked tail were also spoken of as "Bobtails" and this name became associated with the Old English Sheepdog. In truth many of these dogs are born without a tail.
In years past the Old English, carhartt coats, was shown in a more natural appearance than it is today. The Exhibitors in the ring today do an excessive amount of back combing, fluffing, spraying and "chalking" (a practice of brushing fine chalk powder into the coat to whiten it and to give it an appearance of "body" ) and the dog has become so overdone that it presents an entirely different picture than it is in everyday life. If the coat, carhartt coats, is not cared for on a daily basis it is going to be nothing but a shaggy coat, unkempt and quite straggly, like the sheep whom it protects. A pet owner who becomes taken with the show appearance of this breed soon finds out, carhartt coats, that they must brush at least twice a week or give in and get the dog shaved. This solution is never good for the dog since it can lead to sunburn or skin irritations, carhartt coats, .
The A.K.C. standard says that, carhartt coats, the dog should stand 21-22 inches at the shoulder "and upwards" of that size. His appearance when he is done up for the show is impressive and he appears to be much heavier of bone and substance than he is when his coat is not excessively "pouffed". The Old English is a Drovers dog, first and foremost and should have the structure and endurance to perform this work for long periods of time. The dog should stand taller at the rump than at the withers and this is a distinguishing characteristic of the breed. The hair is so profuse over the face, carhartt coats, that often the eyes are not visible unless the hair is pulled back and fastened with a barrette, which is not allowed in the show ring.
The Old English is a steady and reliable dog, reserved in affection for strangers and often overly boisterous with his family. He will not be a, carhartt coats, "watchdog". Although he will bark, he is as a general rule polite with strangers. This is a dog who makes a big and gentle companion for children. The Old English is said to be the "Nana" in the story of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. This fits the description of the Old English in a household, for he is a gentle and loving protector of the children in his "flock".

Personal Injury Negotiating - Be Prepared to Walk Away

Author: Rex Bush, Doctor Of Jurisprudence, Attorney At Law

Source: isnare.com

Described by Roger Dawson,, carhartt coats, author of "Secrets of Power Negotiating" as the "most powerful" negotiating pressure point, the ability to walk away is critical in getting the best possible dollar value from an injury case.

"If there's one thing that I can impress upon you that would make you a 10 times more powerful negotiator,, carhartt coats, it's this" says Roger, "Learn to develop walk-away power."

I've often seen this in mediations. These, in injury cases,, carhartt coats, often take place when the lawsuit is nearly done. There may be a trial date scheduled. (Which, by the way, greatly increases the chances of a successful settlement.)

Mediations are a non-binding way to resolve disputes. They usually take place at the office of one of the lawyers. A mediator is chosen by mutual agreement of both sides. The mediator will usually be a retired judge or an experienced lawyer.

Everyone meets in a conference room where each side has a chance to tell his story. The mediator then lays the ground rules and the sides split up into separate rooms.

The mediator then travels from room to room working with each side to reach a resolution.

Be Patient

One of the keys to a successful mediation is to feel no pressure whatsoever about settling the case. The best position to take is: we're ready to go to trial so if we can't get what we want to today "we'll see you in court."

Just having the right attitude can help you get the case resolved. But, if necessary, you leave at the end of the mediation and you have additional chances to settle the case before trial and even after trial starts.

My Roman Flea Market Experience

Maybe it wasn't a flea market but it was definitely outdoors and in Rome. My Italian companion of the day was helping me to buy a coat and guiding me through the process.

When I found a coat I liked (loved,, carhartt coats, actually) I was coached to act disinterested by stating it was not exactly what I was looking for. I made a very low offer which, carhartt coats, was promptly rejected.

We visited some other booths then returned. The coat really did not meet my needs I explained, raising my offer just a little.

After nearly an hour of, carhartt coats, this exercise the vendor sold me the coat for far less than I had expected to pay. The vendor was obviously angry. But I was prepared to walk away. And it paid.

Point of No Return

“The minute you pass the point, carhartt coats, when you’re willing to say, ‘I’m prepared, carhartt coats, to walk away from this,’ you lose in the negotiations” says Dawson.

Dawson tells the story of his daughter Julia who fell in love with, carhartt coats, a used car. The salesman knew it and the price showed it.

When Julia asked her father to help negotiate a better deal he asked her, “Julia, are you prepared to come home tonight without the car?”

“No, I’m not” she said, “I want it. I want it. I want it.”

“Julia” he said, “you might as well get your checkbook out and give them what they’re asking, because you’ve already set yourself up, carhartt coats, to lose in the negotiations. We’ve got to be prepared to walk.”

And walk they did. Twice. And bought the car for $2,000 less than Julia would have paid for it.

Conclusion

Be prepared to walk away in an injury case or any other type of negotiating.

Pet Care - Making the Best Of Life

Author: Michael Russell

Source: articleage.com

An associate shared this heart-rending story with me about his pet and I'll repeat it here in his own words.
I had the most lovely Rotweiler female dog. She was about two years old when I bought her. She had a strong personality, but was sweet, loving and affectionate to me. I named her Snoopy. She was a career watch dog. I kept her on a long tether line attached to a strong steel post. Every day she would go for a long walk with me.
When I moved to a more rural, carhartt coats, setting she had her own fenced off yard, to play in. Life was good. She loved to go for walks on the mountain side behind where we lived. Snoopy's world was one of smell. She loved to go sniffing in a ground squirrel's burrow. She would spend a lot of time digging up the hole, carhartt coats, . The dirt, carhartt coats, would go flying behind her, as she became a dirty, soil covered mess. She would dig until tired, and even then it was difficult, to pull her, carhartt coats, away from the hole.
Snoopy was a very intelligent dog. I talked to her all the time. She seemed to understand a great deal of the English language and would get all excited if I asked her if she wanted to go for a drive in the car. Then she would saunter off to the door, and wait for me to, carhartt coats, go out with her. She did much the same thing if I asked her, if she wanted to go for a walk. Snoopy would gesture with her, carhartt coats, head and paws to communicate. Some times it was almost like we were psychically linked. I would wake up at night from a deep sleep, when she wanted to go out side.
Snoopy had thick black and brown hair. Twice a year she would shed her coat. The heaviest hair loss was in spring, when her winter coat was shed. The lighter hair loss came in fall as she prepared to put on her winter coat. I would try to comb her every day when she was shedding hair. Brushing her hair yielded bunches of her black fur so at this time of year brushing her coat became a major element of her pet care routine.
Even though we were very active, taking mountain walks each day, Snoopy, started putting on a lot of weight. She was so heavy, I could not have lifted her. She was about the size of a small sheep.
Off and on she would have stomach problems, carhartt coats, . I noticed she was developing a pot belly. She would eat a lot of grass on days when she didn't feel well. Sometimes, carhartt coats, I would help her, by picking the blades of grass for her, and then feed them to her. She was a strong dog. She could pull me along behind, dragging me holding her leash.
As time went on she continually had stomach problems, separated by days when she felt better. The size of her abdomen also grew larger. Each day we still faithfully, carhartt coats, went on her walk. She would come to me when she thought it was time to go walking, and remind me that she wanted to go. As time went on her rest periods during our walks, grew more frequent and longer. Some times we did about half and half, walking and sitting. I would carry a water bottle for Snoopy so she could drink. She always became thirsty on her walks.
Snoopy started developing tumours on the out side of her fur coat. From time to time, I checked her, carhartt coats, coat and noted she was developing more tumours, on her sides and shoulders. I suspected the large mass in her abdomen was also a tumour.
Sometimes her food, carhartt, carhartt coats, coats, seemed to make her feel sick. In her last week she found a bunch of bird bones in the forest and insisted on eating them. She really enjoyed, carhartt coats, eating those bones. I knew her days were numbered and did not want to deprive her of any last pleasures. The day after she ate the bones she felt really sick. She didn't eat her food for a couple of days after that. Instead she went looking for grass, when we were out walking. In a few days she felt better again. All the grass we picked together, must have helped. She sure ate a lot of grass. She had a few last good days. Snoopy really enjoyed life on her good days. She enjoyed going exploring so much, on the mountain side. On her good days one could almost forget, that she had a growing problem.
Snoopy became sick again and this time couldn't keep down food or water. I would try to give her, carhartt coats, little drinks, hoping her stomach would keep the water down., carhartt coats, She just threw it up, a short time later. On her last morning I woke up, hearing Snoopy coughing violently. I ran to help her. She was in a life and death struggle to breath. I tried to clear her throat, swatting her on the back of the neck. It was too late. She went unconscious and died in my arms. I was heart broken. My best friend had died. Her departure ended her cancer, but left me lost, with a gigantic hole in my life. Snoopy was the best part of my life.

Coat Care of Long Haired Sporting Dogs

Author: B. Mehl

Source: ezinearticles.com

The luxurious locks of Irish English and Gordon Setters, Flat Coat, and Golden Retrievers are what, carhartt coats, beauty in a dog means. Keeping them that, carhartt coats, way means a lot of work on the part of their lucky owners, enjoy these tips to keeping these beautiful animals looking and feeling, carhartt coats, their best.

1. In The Spring Time- Fleas begin infesting grass and carpets again, after a slowdown period from the winter. Borax in the carpet overnight once a week and a bi yearly spray on all of your grass should be started. Dogs with very dry skin can show allergies this time of year, and keeping tabs on the long haired guys is a must when, carhartt coats, everything is blooming and pollen is high, as dogs typically show allergies not by, carhartt coats, sneezing but by, carhartt coats, an irritated coat. Fur will also need, carhartt coats, extra brushing, as the winter fur sheds out and is replaced by new summer fur. If you are brushing once a week, step that up to twice a week until the winter coat is completely gone. If you took a break from your Frontline, start it up again.

2. In The Summer Time- Fleas are in full rage now and you will really benefit from that spray job on your lawn you did that spring. Keeping it mowed will give fleas a smaller hiding spot as well. If you have gone camping with your dog, make sure you are checking that gorgeous coat for ticks, check it well that is a lot of hair to hide in. Pollen is dying down in the summer, but keep that dog cool by shaving the belly, or foregoing that they are sporting dogs and love the water, a small plastic pool will help them and you will laugh all summer long at their antics. It is a must that these long haired dogs have access to water at all times, that fur keeps them extremely warm.

3. In The Fall Season- This is when you are going to do your second bi annual lawn spray for fleas. Fall is tricky, Indian summer in many places can keep temperatures raging to 90 degrees, and dog hair knows that winter is on its way so keep that grooming going to make sure you know what your dog's body is up too. You will find that wispy summer coat all over your carpet; keep up that Frontline and Borax. Bathe on sunny days and enjoy watching the leaves turn.

4. In The Winter Time- Older dogs may not grow the kind of robust coat they did when younger, so make sure they have a downy fuzz to keep them warm. A blanket, like one a horse might wear, can, carhartt coats, be purchased if the dog is cold. Some Dogs grow such a robust coat that grooming must again be stepped up to twice a week. This is the time of year many areas can take a break from the Frontline, but I keep up the Borax in the carpet, fleas still breed in warm houses.

Caring for long haired dogs can be a hassle, but some of the breeds are definitely worth the time. Some of my favorite long haired sporting dog breeds are Golden Retrievers and the Flat Coat Retriever.

Does Your Brochure Pass the Test ? - Part 1

Author: Brett Curry

Source: articlecity.com

Your prospects will decided if they want to read your brochure in the first 5 seconds they look at it. What kind of message are you communicating in that five seconds? Will you make a favorable impression with your, carhartt coats, prospect? Will you move your prospect closer to the sale?

There are really only two key elements that will determine how well your brochure is received by prospects. These two elements will ultimately make the difference in your brochure being a tool that makes you money, or just something else that costs you money.

What are those two all-important elements: 1. the Image, carhartt coats, or look 2. the Message

This is part 1 in a two-part article. In part 1 we will discuss what you need to ask for from your printer to make sure that your brochure looks top notch.

Here are 5 things you should, carhartt coats, keep in mind when you are evaluating your layout and your printer.

1. Choose Offset Printing. Offset printing is a type of printing that causes the ink to, carhartt coats, become a part of, carhartt coats, the paper. Offset printing creates, carhartt coats, a rich, vibrant look that digital printing can't touch. Offset printing isn't all that common because good Offset printing presses cost in the millions of dollars.

2. Choose Thick Paper - preferably 100# Glossy. If your, carhartt coats, brochure is too thin or too light-weight it might appear cheap. You don't want that impression to be transferred to your business. The most common paper weights are 70# and 80#. 100# is a little less common which makes it stick out. Plus, 100# feels heavy and high-quality. Glossy paper takes the look of quality up a notch.

3. Add Aqueous Coating. While this isn't the industry standard, aqueous coating adds a layer of style to your brochure. Plus it causes the colors to "jump" off the page so to, carhartt coats, speak. It makes the whites appear whiter, and so on. Ask your printer if they offer aqueous coating. If it doesn't cost very much to upgrade, it's worth it. There are a few printers out there that offer aqueous coating FREE.

4. Use Full Bleed. Full Bleed is a print term that simply means the colors run to the edge of the page. Some printers charge extra for full bleed, some don't. If your brochure is not full bleed it will leave a border of white around the edges that looks a little amateurish.

5. Ensure a Consistent Look. Your brochure should fit into a well designed marketing campaign. It should have a similar look and message as your postcards, flyers, reports, business cards, etc.
