Four Decorative Painting Techniques
Author: Kathy Burns-Millyard
Source: articleage.com
Tired of plain, boring walls? Faux finishes are a great way to, carhartt coats, jazz up your space with little cost or effort. Here are a few of the most popular finishes.
Sponging: Of all faux finish techniques, sponging is the easiest, even children can do a somewhat messy reproduction of this technique. In order to sponge, you must first paint the entire area one base color. After this coat dries, then you can take a sponge or even a plastic bag, dip it in paint, and apply the paint randomly to the walls. Although this is a random process, you want to be careful not to get any one area of the, carhartt coats, wall extremely dark or leave it, carhartt coats, extremely light or your eye will be drawn to that spot immediately. Sponging is very easy, and for all supplies usually costs between $50-$100, which may also include classes if you want to learn from the professionals.
Combing: Combing is a little more difficult. When combing, you use a squeegee with teeth to comb through the top layer of paint. As with sponging, you want to have a bottom layer so that when you comb there will be a matching layer beneath it. Using a combing technique is also very inexpensive, and you can use the squeegee to make wavy, zigzags, and other designs on the wall.
Glazing: Glazing is actually the product that you put over your first coat of paint. In order to glaze your walls correctly, you should take a class. You may be able, carhartt coats, to find a home improvement store that offers glazing classes or you may need to talk to a local interior decorator about classes, although these will likely be very expensive. Glazing places a transparent coat over the base coat of paint, making the wall look a bit shiny and transparent. You can use as many coats of glaze as you want to get the desired look.
Trompe-L'oeil: Trompe-L'oeil is French for "fool the eye." This finish fools the eye into thinking that the wall has a marble or granite finish. This is probably the most difficult finish to accomplish on your own. For creating the marble finish, you use a technique very much like sponging, but, carhartt coats, this one takes a bit more talent. Visit local stores to see if they have classes or tips on achieving this style.
These are the four primary types of faux finishes. The first two are fairly easy, while the latter two are significantly harder. Before attempting any of these, plan, carhartt coats, well so that you can estimate the cost, and visit your local hardware or design store for classes or helpful hints. Having a buddy to take classes with you or practice with you will make the experience more fun. You can even do one room in your house and then decorate, carhartt coats, a room in your buddy's house;, carhartt coats, the fun never ends!

Grooming Your Maltese Toy Dog
Author: Robin Darch
Source: articleage.com
Maltese dogs are not only beautiful but are lovable and kind natured dogs. As a member of the toy breed, they are small in stature and don't get much bigger than 6 pounds. Most of their bulk comes in the form of thick white hair. Their coats hang long, flat and silky over the sides of the body and skim the ground.
Taking care of the Maltese coat is the most important part of grooming the breed. Maltese should be brushed and combed a minimum of every other day. Daily brushing, however, is recommended if you want to keep their coat healthy.
The best brush to use, carhartt coats, is an open-spaced pin brush. Avoid brushes with "balls" on the pins. Start by lifting up the top layer of hair, spray a light coat of water or a leave in conditioner and brush the bottom half of the coat free. Continue until, carhartt coats, that layer is tangle-free all the way to the skin and then work up to the top layer of hair. Always make sure to brush the dog's underbelly to prevent matting.
If your Maltese does develop mats, try to work it out gently at first with your fingers. Trying to brush it out first may result in hair loss. You can also try spraying the, carhartt coats, mat with de-tangler or a coat conditioning oil to loosen the hair.
Gently pull apart the mat with, carhartt coats, your fingers and the end tooth of a comb as necessary. The most important thing to remember is to go slowly because if you try to remove the mat too hastily, you may, carhartt coats, end up needing to cut the mat out.
Another important part of taking care of the Maltese coat is regular bathing. Before beginning the bathing process, brush and comb your dog thoroughly to get rid of any dead hair and, carhartt coats, knots. If there are any mats, carhartt coats, present, they must be taken, carhartt coats, care of first because water will only tighten the knot.
Once you've prepared your dog, clean the dog's ears and then place a small ball of cotton inside. This will help prevent any water from entering the ear canal and causing an infection. Make sure to have all of your necessary equipment ready before beginning the bath and have plenty of towels within reach.
Begin the bathing by getting your dog wet to the skin and then applying a quality, tear-free shampoo along the back, each leg and under, carhartt coats, the tail of your Maltese. Start lathering your dog and work from the back to front. Rinse the coat and then shampoo again.
After you've rinsed the second time, make sure to wash your Maltese's face carefully with a washcloth. Rise a third time over the dog's face and body to make sure all traces of soap are gone. Any leftover residue will irritate the dog's skin so this is a very important step.
Many Maltese owners like to use conditioner on their dog's coat. A special type of conditioner called a "coat handler" works as a leave in conditioner, detangler and fragrance all in one.
Work the conditioner or coat handler through the dog's hair and then squeeze excess water from the coat. Pay close attention to the ears, tail and legs when removing water. Then you can start drying with towels. Once your dog is at the damp-dry state you can begin to blow-dry. After blow-drying, you can comb, carhartt coats, out the dog's hair to make it smooth. Wash your Maltese no more than once a week for a healthy coat.

Sooner or later they will come, carhartt coats, a time when you will need to consider the maintenance coating of your external roofing, due to its deterioration from errosion, corrosion, or enviromental impact.Roof coatings do not last forever and when it comes round to tackling this task, unless you have some knowledge or experience of roof coatings there could be problems ahead. They, carhartt coats, , carhartt coats, are many types of roof coatings on todays market and it can be quiet dauting trying to identify the correct coating for the job, especially if you have no idea of what is required. Choosing a Gas Grill
Author: Tim Sousa
Source: isnare.com
So, you've decided that you want a gas grill. Gas, carhartt coats, grills do have several advantages over charcoal grills. A gas grill can be preheated and ready to go in just a little while. Charcoal may take an hour before it's ready to use. A gas grill is also easier, carhartt coats, to clean than a charcoal grill. You don't have to clean ash out of a gas grill. There are some things that you'll need to consider, however, when you choose your gas grill.
A gas grill is fairly simple. You have a fuel source, which can be either a propane tank, or for some larger grills, a connection to a natural gas line. The burners create the heat to cook the food. Above the burners is some kind of system to disperse the heat over a larger area. Above the heat dispersal system is a grate on which the food will be cooked. Some small gas grills have only one burner. If you can afford it, you'll want a gas grill with two or more burners. That way, you have better control over your heat. You can have one burner set to the desired cooking temperature, and the other burners on lower heat, so you'll have a place to move the food if it starts to cook to quickly. On some gas grills, you'll also find, carhartt coats, something below the grate to catch the drippings from the food, and convert them to smoke, to enhance the flavor of the food.
Consider your budget. You can find gas grills in prices ranging from $150 on up. On the low end, you'll find simple gas grills with one or maybe two burners. If you're only cooking for 2-4 people, these grills may suit your needs just fine. If you're doing a lot of grilling, or grilling for, carhartt coats, a larger number of people, you'll, carhartt coats, want to buy something a little bigger. From about $350 and up, you'll, carhartt coats, find grills with not only multiple burners, but other features, like smokeboxes for smoking foods, and a side burner for heating pots and pans if necessary. Some of the higher end grills also have a rotisserie attachment.
Look for a solid, stable grill. A cheaply made grill will be wobbly, and possibly collapse while you're cooking. Check the grill to make sure that it is well built with solid construction. The cooking grates should be stainless steel or aluminum, or cast iron, or porcelain coated cast iron. The grates will need to be able to stand up to the high heat of the grill without warping.
Look for a grill that is easy to maintain. You'll want to be able to easily remove the grates and other parts of the grill for cleaning. You'll want to find a good grill made of stainless steel to withstand the weather conditions out on your deck. You will want to get a grill cover, but some dust and moisture will still be, carhartt, carhartt coats, coats, able to get to the grill, so you'll want one that can handle the weather. If the grill has a paint coating, make sure that it, carhartt coats, is a quality coating that will stand up to the, carhartt coats, heat and the weather. You don't want a paint coating that will peel away and expose the grill to the weather.
You're investing your hard earned money in a gas grill. You don't want a grill that will fall apart after one season, you'll want something that will last. Take your time to do some research, and look around. Your patience will be rewarded with a quality grill that will last you for years.

A Dog Shower Is The Easiest Way To Rinse Your Dog
Author: Peter J. Mason
Source: isnare.com
All breeds of dog need to be groomed and bathed on a regular basis, no matter what the length of their coat. Most will enjoy being clean, you can see how playful they become after their grooming sessions, even if the actual bathing experience is not always easy. Your dog will love the fuss, carhartt coats, you make of it when it is well groomed, and a clean dog is, carhartt coats, much more fun to train than a dirty one.
Some dogs have coats that repel dirt and pollution effectively, carhartt coats, whilst others seem to positively attract it. The state of your dog's coat will also depend greatly on the environment you live in, the dog's exposure to dirt and the type of food it eats. The only golden rule about bathing frequency is; when your dog smells like a dog, he needs bathing!
The bathtub is the most practical place to bathe your dog. You will need hot and cold water to get the shampoo out of their coat, as well as a dog shower attachment for a faucet and a rubber mat to prevent slipping. You should start bathing your dog when still a puppy and easy to maneuver in and out of the tub. As they get bigger the dog should be able to climb in and out of the tub unaided, but you should encourage them by giving them a treat once they are in the bath and another once the bathing is finished. Teaching your dog to stand on command will help you to get them in and out of the tub. Although there are exceptions, most dogs will enjoy the attention of being, carhartt coats, bathed in the tub and the warm water should make them relaxed and calm.
If you use full strength shampoo it will take a long time to rinse your dog and get all, carhartt coats, the soap out of their coat. Rinsing is easier and quicker if you use shampoo diluted with water. A mild herb shampoo that you would use for yourself is ideal. Giving your dog a final rinse in a solution of apple cider, vinegar, carhartt coats, and water will help to repel fleas and skin parasites. This will also avoid skin irritations by balancing the pH, carhartt coats, levels in the dog's skin, and will leave them with a really shiny coat. Dry them thoroughly with a thick towel to absorb as, carhartt coats, much water as possible, or they will try to shake the water out of their coat when they get out of the bath.
If your dog is small, bathing him in the kitchen sink may cause less strain on your back. Alternatively you could use a washtub outside, which will prevent too much water on the floor in your house, but may not be practical in winter or if access to warm water is difficult.
